Plan ChatGPT ad creative around the formats and specifications confirmed in your account. Treat announced visual formats and limited Sponsored Agents tests as separate planning cases, not automatic access. GPTAd recommends preparing reusable product information and creative briefs first, then committing production spend when eligibility, requirements and the customer experience are clear.
Reviewed October 15, 2026. “Available,” “announced” and “limited test” describe different planning conditions. This article separates sourced platform information from GPTAd's creative recommendations.
Established advertising and management workflows
OpenAI's self-service announcement describes creative upload and campaign management through Ads Manager. See New ways to buy ChatGPT ads. This establishes a practical advertising workflow; it is not a specification sheet for every creative size or account feature.
A later announcement describes editable creative suggestions and opt-in AI text customization for headlines and descriptions, including translation. The same September product announcement discusses management tools alongside separate experimental experiences. Their appearance in one announcement does not make their access conditions identical.
For production planning, use the fields and previews actually available in your account. Do not invent dimensions or assume a design seen in an announcement can immediately be booked.
Announced visual-format test: treat timing carefully
OpenAI announced a visual ad format associated with image generation, separately labeled from the generated image. US testing with an initial advertiser group was planned for later October. On this article's October 15 review date, that announcement does not establish general availability. See Building advertising for the way people use AI.
GPTAd recommends preparing a creative brief rather than commissioning a complete production package before access is confirmed. Define the product, the customer decision, the truthful claim and the destination. Keep assets reusable until official specifications and your account's eligibility are established.
Sponsored Agents: a separate, limited experience
Sponsored Agents were being tested with selected US advertisers. A user chooses to enter a labeled business-sponsored conversation after clicking an ad; that conversation is separate from the original chat and independent answers. See Reimagining advertising with AI.
The current Sponsored Agents Help Center page confirms a limited alpha for selected advertisers and says early-access requests are not being accepted. Do not promise clients access or schedule a launch based solely on the announcement.
Match production effort to certainty
GPTAd recommends sorting creative work into three groups.
The first is work you need regardless of format: accurate product descriptions, evidence for claims, a clear offer, suitable imagery you have rights to use, and a destination that explains the next step.
The second is work justified by confirmed account capabilities: assets built to verified specifications, copy fitted to actual fields and previews reviewed in the available workflow.
The third is exploratory work: storyboards, conversational outlines and optional concepts for restricted or upcoming experiences. Label these as concepts internally so that sales teams do not mistake them for bookable inventory.
This approach lets a small team prepare without tying its budget to an uncertain launch condition.
A conversational concept needs operational answers
For any future business-sponsored conversational experience, begin with the questions customers already ask your team. Which can be answered from approved product information? Which require a person? Which should never produce a promise without verification?
An imaginary furniture seller might identify questions about materials, delivery windows and room dimensions. Its planning exercise should also identify limits: stock can change, delivery estimates need a source, and suitability advice may require information the business does not yet have.
This is an editorial design exercise, not a description of Sponsored Agents configuration controls. Its purpose is to expose knowledge and ownership gaps before a team builds a conversational promise around them.
Keep claims consistent across formats
An ad headline, a product image, a landing page and a sponsored conversation should not make different promises about the same offer. Maintain a small approved-claims document with the supporting evidence, the responsible reviewer and the date each claim was checked.
Review generated or translated copy against that document. Fluent text can still introduce an unsupported superlative, omit an important condition or imply a delivery promise your team cannot meet.
Choose the next practical action
If you have confirmed campaign access, prepare creative against the actual account requirements. If you are investigating a restricted format, check published availability and confirmed specifications before committing production spend. If you are only exploring, invest in reusable offer information and clear customer answers.
The best format is not automatically the newest one. It is an experience your business can access, explain honestly and support from the first impression through the customer's next action.
